A few minutes after takeoff from airport Postojna, we see the beautiful Pivka basin, where we see a landscape park of intermittent lakes (eco-museums of Pivka intermittent lakes), where lakes in the summer become the vast meadows with rich vegetation. Near the river Pivka, we can see the tower and the ruins of Kalec Castle, surrounded by a plantation of ancient lindens and chestnut trees. The Krpan Trail also runs there (Martin Krpan – the character of a Slovenian artificial narrative created according to folk tradition).
Soon we see the beautiful landscape of Ilirska Bistrica, where we see the artificial lake Mola, the reservoir Klivnik, the mountain peak Kozlek, waterfall Sušec, the monument Ilirska Bistrica, the church of Sv. Peter and other natural and cultural sights of the city.
We continue our flight towards the village Prem, which has all the characteristics of Brkini’s architecture. The village was built next to a beautiful castle (one of the oldest castles in Slovenia) and expanded in a closed row towards the top, where we can see the parish church of Sv. Helena.
